Misfit Project Community Guidelines

We want everyone to feel at home when posting a comment here at The Misfit Project. This is why we reserve the right to delete comments and ban users as needed to keep the comment threads here civil and substantive.

The most important rule here is pretty simple: Don’t be a jerk.

Here’s what we like to see in comments:

  • Weigh in with smart, informed ideas.

  • Give us useful, constructive criticism. Spot a typo or an error? Let us know and we will correct it.

  • Demonstrate and share intelligence, wisdom, and humor.

  • Don’t feed the trolls. Arguing for the sake or arguing? Not cool.

Here are some of the kinds of comments we’re going to do our best to restrict:

  • Promoting your own brand, product, or blog. Interested in working with us or think your brand and ours would do well together? Drop us an email!

  • Impersonating authors or other commenters. Just don’t do that. It’s weird.

  • Comments that make it clear you didn’t read the article. Finish reading before you ride your high horse into the comments section.

  • Comments that are completely out of left field. Small tangents that branch off from the topic at hand are fine. Taking over a comment thread with something that has nothing to do with the original discus, that’s not.

  • Threats — no matter how vague — against the author or other commenters.

  • Racism, sexism, homophobia, you get the drift. Don’t make us ban you.

  • Trolling. If you’re a flat earther just out for a good trolling and are not contributing meaningfully to the conversation, we’ll be pushing you back under the bridge.
